Main differences

In the beginning, we would like to address, that both products offer quite good performance, considering their affordable price. What’s more, we are convinced, that either one of those will be good enough for everyday cleaning. However, there are a few key differences, that you should know about before you make the final decision.

The first major difference is the mopping function. This feature is only present in the Ilife V5s Pro, thanks to the attachable water tank. This product offers a 2-in-1 solution, as you can both dry vacuum and mop your floors with this device. The Ilife A4s doesn’t have this function.

The next important dissimilarity is the battery life. With the Ilife V5s Pro, you get the maximum cleaning time of 110 minutes while the Ilife A4s can operate for up to 140 minutes. This can be particularly useful if you own a big household, or you have a big area to cover.

Another crucial difference is the capacity. This factor can also limit the maximum cleaning time, as each vacuum can hold only a certain amount of dirt and debris. In Ilife V5s Pro the capacity is 10 oz. (0.3 l.) for both the water tank and dust bin. The Ilife A4s has a maximum capacity of 13.5 oz. (0.4 l.).

The last important dissimilarity is the noise level. Many people don’t pay attention to this aspect, however, in our opinion, it can make a difference. After all, robotic vacuums were made to free up your time, in order to do other activities.

The noise level in Ilife V5s Pro is equal to 50 dB in silent mode (the suction drops to 550 Pa) while the noise level in Ilife A4s is equal to 54 dB. It’s up to you to decide, whether some extra noise in the background will bother you.

Those are pretty much all the things, that you should know about. Based on the factors above, you can already make the final decision, however, we still highly recommend reading the rest of the article, in order to learn more well-detailed information.

Cleaning performance

Cleaning performance is one of the most important aspects when picking a new cleaning device. By this, we mean how well a particular unit does, compared to other products from a similar price range. There are many factors, that alter the cleaning performance, and we will talk about those below.

First of all, we would like to once again address, that the cleaning performance in those vacuums is at a satisfying level. We are convinced, that for most people, the suction should be high enough. One thing, that could use some improvement is the navigation system, however, it would make the price of the vacuums significantly higher.

When buying either one of those products, you get a great entry-level robotic vacuum cleaner, that will allow you to test this type of device. There are a few dissimilarities when it comes to the brush design and cleaning system, however, those don’t make a huge difference.

The Ilife V5s Pro has one unique feature which isn’t used too often in robotic vacuums, and that is the mopping function. Thanks to the attachable mopping pad, and interchangeable water tank, you can turn your dry vacuum into a wet floor cleaning machine.

The device shouldn’t have any problems removing fresh spills and smaller stains, however, we wouldn’t recommend using it for heavy-duty cleaning. It’s also great to use this function once in a while, in order to fresh up your hardwood floors.

In both Ilife V5s Pro and Ilife A4s, there’s also a max mode, that is used when vacuuming more demanding spots. You can turn it on just like any other cleaning mode, using your remote controller. Unfortunately, neither vacuum can turn on this mode automatically, as they lack the necessary sensors.

There are, however, anti-fall and anti-bump sensors in both vacuums which prevent damage to the furniture or falling down the stairs. All of those sensors should be enough to make the vacuums operate fluently.

Another great function is the auto-recharge feature – Which allows the vacuums to go back to their docking station automatically before completely running out of battery. Then the vacuums recharge and continue the cleaning process.

Unfortunately, there is no way to operate the robotic vacuums using an app or voice, therefore, you will have to rely on the remote controller, that comes in the package.

Both vacuums have four different cleaning modes, such as auto mode, edge mode, spot mode, and max mode. Those can be turned on also using your remote controller. Those four different settings should allow for enough versatility to clean your entire household in an efficient way.

You should also know, that there is an option to schedule the cleaning process, using the remote controller. This feature is available in both Ilife’s products.

Those are pretty much all of the important aspects regarding cleaning performance. Of course, there are also factors that can indirectly alter the cleaning performance, however, we will talk about those in the latter part of the article.

Capacity

The capacity is the second most limiting factor when it comes to the maximum cleaning time, right next to the battery life. If you are planning to clean a large area, or you own a big household, this may be something to take into consideration.

There is a difference when it comes to the maximum capacity, as the Ilife V5s Pro can hold only up to 10 oz. of dirt (when dry vacuuming) and up to 10 oz. of dirty water (when mopping). However, the Ilife A4s can hold up to 13.5 oz. of dirt and debris.

Noise level

Noise level is something, that’s often skipped, however, in our opinion it can make a difference when using robotic vacuums. After all, those products were made to free up our time, so extra noise in the background can be quite distracting when doing other activities.

The Ilife V5s Pro produces 50 dB in a silent mode, however, this makes the suction drop to around 550 Pa. In this mode, this is one of the quietest models on the market. The Ilife A4s produces approximately 54 dB when operating which isn’t much higher than the Ilife V5s Pro.

Remote control features

The manufacturers often implement multiple remote control features, in order to make using robotic vacuums more convenient. Some of the most popular ways to operate those products are to use an official manufactures app, or connect the device to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Unfortunately, neither of the vacuums has the options written above. The only way to operate your new cleaning device is to use the special remote controller, that comes in the package. This is another disadvantage, that comes with low-price point vacuums.

Battery life

The battery life is the most important feature when it comes to limiting the maximum cleaning time. Therefore, it’s something to keep an eye on when choosing a new robotic vacuum, especially if you own a big household, or you have a big area to cover.

The battery life in the Ilife V5s Pro is 110 minutes which is pretty average for a robotic vacuum cleaner. However, the Ilife A4s is a much more appealing option, offering up to 140 minutes of maximum cleaning time.

The charging time is also slightly different for each device – The Ilife V5s Pro will charge to 100% in approximately 4 hours while the charging time in the Ilife A4s can take up to 5 hours.

Design

The design is a crucial aspect when creating a robotic vacuum, as those products have to remain small and portable. The design has to allow them to fit under and around most of the furniture, in order to keep all those hard-to-reach spots.

The Ilife V5s Pro has an extra unique design, as it boasts interchangeable tanks and an attachable mopping pad. Thanks to this, you can use the product for both dry vacuuming and wet mopping. All of the elements are easy to remove and attach, therefore it should take you too long.

If you would like to learn some more technical information, the Ilife V5s Pro measures 11.8 x 11.8 x 3 in. and weighs around 4.5 lb. while the Ilife A4s measures 12.2 x 12.2 x 3 in. and weighs 4.9 lb.

Price

The price is also one of the most important aspects, however, it’s usually the first thing people check when comparing different cleaning devices. Nonetheless, we still decided to touch on this aspect, as it may be quite useful for others.

You should also keep in mind, that the price tends to fluctuate a lot, therefore, the one written below may already differ. Be sure to double-check it before making the final decision.

The Ilife V5s Pro can be found on Amazon for the price of $189.99 (Click here to see the price!), while the Ilife A4s can also be found on Amazon for the price of $159.99 (Click here to see the price!). There is a small difference, mainly due to the mopping function in the V5s Pro model.

You have to decide for yourself whether additional features are worth the extra money.

Cleaning modes

There are many different cleaning modes available in both models, and each one has a different function. In order to make them more understandable for you, we decided to briefly describe each one below.

Cleaning modes, that can be used in both Ilife V5s Pro and A4s are:

  • Automatic cleaning – This mode works great for everyday cleaning. The vacuum works on optimizing the path by selecting the best cleaning mode for the current situation. When the unit runs out of battery, it goes back to the charging port, recharges itself, and continues cleaning.
  • Spot cleaning mode – This mode is best for cleaning an area that needs some extra attention. The vacuums clean the current area using a spiral pattern. It can last for up to two minutes.
  • Edge cleaning mode – This mode is created for cleaning the edges of walls and furniture. The unit cleans edges for 20 minutes and after that, it returns to its dock.
  • Manual cleaning mode – The last mode works by manually directing the vacuum onto the dirty area using directional buttons on the remote.

This wide range of options should be enough to make the cleaning process more convenient and efficient. The modes can be switched using the included remote controller.

Necessary maintenance

Maintenance is an aspect, that is often skipped by people who are getting their first robotic vacuum. This is a big mistake, as, in order to keep your new robotic vacuum operating at the desired level and to prevent permanent damage, you should always take proper maintenance steps.

We won’t be getting into details, as it would make the whole article too long. We will, however, give you a few basic maintenance tips, that should work in most of the robotic vacuums.

In order to keep your new robotic vacuum operating at the desired level, you should:

  • Regularly clean/rinse all the brushes
  • Regularly check the brush roll and side brushes for any stuck dirt and/or debris
  • At least once a week clean the cover of the vacuum/wheels
  • Replace any used or damaged elements as fast as possible
  • Regularly empty and check the vacuum’s dustbin for any stuck dirt or debris

Those are only a couple of tips, that you should keep in mind. In order to learn all the most important details, you should read the included user’s guide.

Conclusion

In conclusion, both robotic vacuums are very efficient units, that should work very well in most scenarios. There are, however, a couple of things, that you should keep in mind before you make the final decision.

Some of the most important differences, that you should keep in mind are mopping function (present only in Ilife V5s Pro), capacity (larger in the Ilife A4s), battery life(longer in Ilife A4s), and noise level (lower in the Ilife V5s Pro).

Based on the factors above, we would say, that the Ilife V5s Pro is a winner of this comparison. This is because we highly value the mopping function and lower noise level. However, if those features don’t matter to you, the Ilife A4s may be a better choice.

We hope, that after reading this article you will be satisfied with your final choice.
